Owl Expedition

Owl Expedition is Your First Step to Becoming a True Owl! Let's Soar to New Heights Together.

Owl Expedition is Kennesaw State’s premier 3-day, 2-night extended orientation experience for first-time, first-year and transfer students. We focus on providing activities that build upon school spirit and university traditions, leadership, team building, diversity and inclusion. Our goal is to provide a foundation for a successful transition into the college experience.

Owl Expedition is a prominent tradition that has been on our campus since Summer 2014. Each year, hundreds of students participate as campers or leaders with this New Owl Experience. Former campers have described Owl Expedition as a “life-changing experience.” Campers who have participated in our program are more likely to become active members in student life and pursue leadership roles in campus organizations.

  • Owl Expedition at KSU

    Owl Expedition Testimonial:

“Owl Expedition was very special to me because it helped me transition into my freshman year at KSU. I met many new people who were also going into their first year at KSU, and they are still some of my best friends today. It was an easy way to meet new people and make memories that will last forever!”---Hayley Moore, Major: Criminal Justice, Class Year: 2022
    • KSU Owl Expedition

      Owl Expedition Testimonial:

“I loved going on Owl Expedition, not only for the fun activities but the bonds I made. Whenever I heard someone say, at this camp you would meet friends that would last a lifetime I was skeptical but after going on this amazing retreat I have found friendships and relationships that I will carry on and cherish for the rest of my life. My experience at Kennesaw State, would not be the same, if it hadn’t been for Owl Expedition!”---Marcela Febres, Major: Public Relations, Class Year: 2023

What is a Flight Crew Leader?

Flight Crew Leaders are instrumental in the planning and successful implementation of Owl Expedition. Chosen students have the special opportunity to be involved in an exciting approach to sharing and promoting school spirit and what it means to be an Owl at Kennesaw State University. Flight Crew Leaders also serve as a small group facilitator and a peer mentor to a group of approximately 10-12 incoming first-year students before, during and after the camp.
