Will the New Student Orientation be virtual?
Due to COVID-19, our office has moved all Fall 2020 orientations to an online and virtual platform.
What should I expect from the New Student Orientation?
The New Student Orientation will consist of synchronous live events and small group facilitations and asynchronous modules full of information about Kennesaw State University.
I already signed up for an orientation date. Do I need to reselect a date now that it is virtual?
If you already signed up for an orientation date, you do not need to select a new date. This is the date of your synchronous orientation experience.
Will I receive a refund if I paid for an orientation before the decision was made for virtual orientations?
You will receive a fee adjustment for the difference between what you paid and the new pricing if you paid $60 for Orientation.
When can I expect the fee adjustments?
You will receive your refund (if you paid for the orientation prior to the decision for virtual orientations) before the start of the Fall 2020 academic semester.
How long is Kennesaw State orientation?
The synchronous portion of the New Student Orientation experience for Fall 2020 admitted students is roughly 5 hours. This is to allow you to get as much information as possible to prepare you to start college.
When is New Student Orientation?
- Summer semester orientation are typically offered during the month of April prior to the school term that will begin in May or June (depending on the term / course).
- Fall Semester orientation dates are offered during the months of June and July prior to the starting school term starting in August.
- Spring semester orientations are typically offered during the month of November to January prior to the school term staring in January.
What happens at Kennesaw State University orientation?
During your New Student Orientation experience, you will learn about available campus resources, meet current student leaders who will help you acclimate to campus life, and meet with an academic advisor to map out your academic journey. You will also register for your first semester of classes at Kennesaw State University during your New Student Orientation.
What should I do before my New Student Orientation session?
After you register for your New Student Orientation experience, you will be emailed a pre-Orientation checklist that outlines things that you should do prior to beginning your orientation experience.
Is New Student Orientation mandatory?

Can I skip New Student Orientation?
New Student Orientation at Kennesaw State University is required of all incoming students. In the case you do not attend Orientation, you traditionally will not be able to register for classes until the first day of school.
Can I meet my advisor before orientation?
Yes, we highly recommend that you meet with your advisor before your orientation experience to feel comfortable with what courses to take.
What is your refund policy?
The Orientation fee for students, parents, and guests is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Parent and Family Information
Do parents go with you to college orientation?
Parents and guests can attend New Student Orientation with you as a new student. However, it is not a requirement or mandatory for parents or guests to attend the orientation. The Parent and Guest Orientation will have its own schedule and sessions that do not coincide with the student orientation.
What is the difference between parent orientation and student orientation?
Both orientations will overlap at the same time. Parent Orientation is focused on the parent and family transition to KSU and ensures that they are supported during this transition.
What do you wear to college orientation?
During your orientation day, we recommend that you wear comfortable clothing. The day consists of tours and participants of the new student orientation do a lot of walking on the Kennesaw State University campus. We also recommend that you bring a rain jacket in the case of rain or light sweater if you are easily cold.
