What does “virtual” orientation mean?  

Due to COVID-19, student and family orientation sessions have moved to a virtual platform. Registered students and family members will receive information on how to access the online modules and the live virtual session before their scheduled date.

What should I expect from the New Student Orientation? 

Virtual New Student Orientation sessions will consist of a live Zoom meeting with New Student Programs staff, student leaders, faculty members, and other staff members in the KSU community. During these sessions, you will learn more about the resources available to you, get to know other students, and meet with faculty and staff to discuss academic advising and course registration.

When should I register for a session?

To maximize your date options, we recommend registering for a session as soon as possible!

How long is the Virtual New Student Orientation session? 

The live portion of the Virtual New Student Orientation experience is roughly 5 hours. This is to allow you to get as much information as possible to prepare you to join the KSU community. Following the live portion, you will register for classes and review post-orientation modules on your own.

How much is New Student Orientation?

Fees vary depending on the programming offered. All student orientation sessions are not confirmed until a payment is made and accepted. Check out the sign-up page on this site for more information about paying for your session. NOTE: Student and Parent & Guest orientation fees are non-refundable.

(Student fee has been adjusted to cover hybrid programming)

*Parent and Family Orientation sessions will be held virtually via Zoom. If your parent(s) and/or family members are in the same household, please only register for one Parent & Family registration. If your parent(s) and/or family live in separate households, you may complete up to two registrations. 

What is your refund policy?

The Orientation fee for students, parents, and guests is non-refundable and non-transferable.

When is New Student Orientation?

Summer semester orientation are typically offered during the month of April prior to the school term that will begin in May or June (depending on the term / course). Fall Semester orientation dates are offered during the months of June and July prior to the starting school term starting in August. Spring semester orientations are typically offered during the month of November to January prior to the school term beginning in January. Check out the Dates page on this site for more information.

What happens at orientation?

During your New Student Orientation experience, you will learn about available campus resources, meet current student leaders who will help you acclimate to campus life, and meet with an academic advisor to map out your academic journey. You will also register for your first semester of classes at Kennesaw State University during your New Student Orientation.

What should I do before my New Student Orientation session?

After you register for your New Student Orientation experience, you will be emailed a pre-Orientation checklist that outlines things that you should do prior to beginning your orientation experience.

Is New Student Orientation mandatory?

New Student Orientation at Kennesaw State University is required of all new first year and transfer students.

Can I meet my advisor before orientation?

Yes, we highly recommend that you meet with your advisor before your orientation experience to feel comfortable with what courses to take. 

Can I bring a parent or family member to new student orientation?

Parents and guests can attend New Student Orientation with you as a new student. However, it is not a requirement or mandatory for parents or guests to attend the orientation. The Parent and Guest Orientation will have its own schedule and sessions scheduled in tandem with new student orientation sessions.
